A poem declaimer or a flower giver, never both at\nthe same time, because each role was well defined and could not overlap the\nother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the best acting\nteacher in my life \u2013 my mom (a railway employee all her life\u2026), I used to learn\nlike a parrot all the poems with rhymes and words I could not fully understand,\nbut which were able to bring happiness to the people up there. No, not next to\nGod, but in the main tribune\u2026 (I will tell you one day about something\nunexpected I lived as a poem declaimer.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a <strong>flower giver<\/strong>, it was much easier. All I had to do was get cleaned up and disinfested. I only remember that, before going to the place of the homage show \u2013 the today Charles de Gaulle Square in Bucharest \u2013 I would get from the instructors <strong>new socks<\/strong>. A lot of socks. I would always come back home with new socks. And new scarves. And commander&#8217;s braids, badges and cords. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What was the reason? The &#8220;comrades&#8221; were supposed to see only the top pioneers, those who had special merits in class and in the pioneer activities (my God, I already remember the language of the time hihi). We were \u201cdrugged\u201d enough by the system, there was no need for anything else\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I remember that, during my last August 23 show, they sprayed\nour hands with a spray. A silver tube. A disinfectant, it seems. If you were a\nflower giver, you were in direct contact with the leaders, so it was better not\nto give them God knows what bacteria\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We were all trained before. One girl and a \u201chawk\u201d would give flowers to the supreme leader, one boy and a \u201chawk\u201d to the supreme wife and a few other pioneers and &#8220;hawks&#8221; to the authorities in the Central Committee. I remember the instruction, so that we all understood we were not supposed to give flowers to anyone else by the designated person. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I came to understand after the first homage shows that some of the children, either taught by their parents or from a personal impulse, were all going with flowers to <strong>Ceausescu<\/strong> \u2013 to him or to her. Unique opportunity, special offer J. You would think I am blind or something J<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is how I appeared on the first pages of the newspapers\nof the time.
