Jenny from the Casa Poporului

The woman is something else! – I told myself that many times during the concert. I even heard others say it out loud. In one way or another, they too were expressing their admiration for Jennifer Lopez.

The truth is, she really left us speechless. And in a world where “hate” is the norm, it’s rare not to find fault with someone.

To me, she seems like “the full package”! 100% artist! She came and gave it her all, professional, singing in every position without any slip-ups, dancing so hard that my whole body hurt just watching her, changing into sexier and sexier costumes – probably with help from the Romanian seamstresses she requested.

And she never stopped showing us how proud she is of how she looks…

She ended many moments by showing off her sculpted behind, to the delight of the men around me.

Even their girlfriends/wives stayed silent, letting the guys devour her with their eyes. Because, if they dared to complain, they’d probably be met with: “well, when are you going to look like that??”

I bet all the women there were thinking: “When I grow up, I want to be like Jennifer Lopez at 56”. Well, okay, it’s too late for me, I’m already both grown and grown-up 🙂

She held a show for almost 2 hours without disappearing too much, without talking too much. And when she did speak, she made sure to pronounce “București” as correctly as possible. Not Bucharest, and definitely not Budapest…

She sang and danced in the breeze of the fans, went through all her hits, whether in English or Spanish, and visibly enjoyed the moment when a camera operator projected her image onto the Palace of the Parliament. (I’m curious when/if that’ll pop up on her page.)

I tried to watch her “live” as much as possible, not on the big screens, though that’s what most of us ended up doing, especially those not in VIP or right by the stage (judging by all the social media pics). Man, it was tough seeing her tiny on stage, with all the phones held up in the air, with so many tall people that Romania seems to have 🙂 and with so many girls climbed on their boyfriends’ shoulders to get a better view.

There were some… luckier ones:

The terrace of the Ministry of Justice was occupied by a few citizens. Well, isn’t that just? 🙂

And from the Palace of the Parliament (People’s House), I saw a few curious heads peeking out one of the windows, enjoying the concert for free. The rest of the People didn’t have access to the House. Only to the ticket house…

I watched her with admiration. Because I can only imagine the enormous amount of work behind such a performance.

And I inspected her too, like a curious woman, to see… maybe “look, she’s got some cellulite, a zit on her nose, some flabby arms like a grandma”. Nope. None of that!

A supposed basketball player ruined my shot there. He, however, seemed quite pleased 🙂

I left the concert on foot and honestly, it felt like Unirii Boulevard had shrunk.

Once I got home, not only did I not take the stairs, not only did I not drink still water with lemon, but I threw myself “on the floor” and raided the ice cream jar 🙂

“Save me tonight”, Jenny from the Block!

But I can almost hear her say: “Ain’t Your Mama!”…
